Kids' mountain bike program likely the first of many in Old Town ...

Ten children in Old Town learned the joys of mountain biking during a monthlong program for grades 4-8 that ran mid-September through mid-October.

The program was made possible by a first-of-its-kind collaboration of three Maine-based organizations: Old Town Recreation, Maine Winter Sports Center and the Bicycle Coalition of Maine.

?They were very excited to just go out and experience the outdoors,? said Kevin McPhee, director of Old Town Recreation, which hosted the program. ?We have a river trail here in the Old Town-Orono area that goes along the Stillwater River. It?s just a beautiful bike trial, and they were able to experience that on a couple of occasions.?

Biking in the mud was their favorite part.

?They usually came back and had mud up their backs and huge smiles,? McPhee said. ?Their parents would come to pick them up and just shake their heads and smile.?

Healthy Hometowns, the community development program of the Maine Winter Sports Center, provided mountain bikes and helmets for participants, as well as training and curriculum for leaders.

?The focus of this program was on experiencing the lifelong, active outdoor pursuit of mountain biking,? said Central Maine Healthy Hometowns coach Lauren Jacobs. ?Kids had a blast exploring the trails, getting muddy and becoming skilled bikers.?

In April, L.L.Bean announced a $1 million donation to Healthy Hometowns to expand the program into a year-round, statewide effort. This donation coincides with L.L.Bean?s mission to get more children outdoors during their 100th anniversary year and beyond.

?In the past, Healthy Hometowns has been primarily cross-country ski-oriented and mostly in the County, up in Aroostook,? Jacobs said. ?With the funding in April, we can go statewide and year-round. This is the first time we?ve had equipment to use in other regions.?

The funding is providing staff, training and resources for Healthy Hometowns expand its focus to outdoor activities such as paddling, hiking, mountain biking, orienteering and camping.

So far, the donation enabled Healthy Hometowns to purchase 20 mountain bikes, three boat trailers of kayaks, and expand their ski collection to approximately 1,500 sets of skis. The program ?coaches? have started spreading out across the state, and the equipment supply will continue to grow over the next three years, Jacobs said.

The 10 children who participated in the Old Town mountain bike program gained skills and confidence through riding on local trails and fields and engaging in a variety of games and activities used to teach bike handling, shifting, braking, safety and navigating obstacles.

The Bicycle Coalition of Maine, a statewide cycling advocacy group, supported the initiative with a safety program for participants and program leadership by a coalition employee.

?Participants markedly improved their biking skills while getting great exercise and getting the opportunity to experience the great Maine outdoors as it was meant to be enjoyed,? McPhee said.

During the summer, Healthy Hometowns and Old Town Recreation worked together to provide kayaking and biking opportunities to summer camp participants. And this winter, the two organizations will work together for the third year to offer a youth cross-country ski program in conjunction with the Penobscot Valley Ski Club.

?This will be an ongoing effort,? McPhee said. ?We look forward to doing this spring, summer, fall and winter. We look forward to partnering with them each season to provide a different activity.?

Healthy Hometowns trailers filled with cross-country skis and snowshoes will travel throughout the state all winter to give children the chance to experience winter sports. Several schools in the Bangor area have booked the equipment, including schools in Winterport, Hampden, Bangor and Dover-Foxcroft.

?We are really focused on winter right now, planning winter sports, getting out calendars filled up and getting ready to do our ski weeks,? Jacobs said. ?But it won?t be long before we start thinking about spring and getting programming lined up. We already have a couple of requests ? Milo has already scheduled the mountain bikes for their outing club members for some time in May.?

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) -- An animal advocate has been named to the Nevada Wildlife Commission -- a board that critics say is unfairly stacked with hunters.

Karen Summers Layne is president of the Las Vegas Valley Humane Society. She was appointed to the nine-member policy board on Oct.3 by Gov. Brian Sandoval. Her appointment follows that of former Clark County Sheriff Bill Young in July.

Layne opposed establishing a black bear hunting season in Nevada two years ago and has worked on trapping regulations for the Mount Charleston region outside Las Vegas.

She holds a doctorate degree in public administration, and is retired from both UNLV and the Las Vegas Police Department, where she worked as planning director.

She becomes only the sixth woman to serve on the commission.

Heating Oil and Pickup Trucks Collide in Susquehanna County

October 22, 2012 Updated Oct 22, 2012 at 6:21 PM EDT

Lawton, PA (WBNG Binghamton) A pickup truck collided with a heating oil truck on Route 267, spilling oil and diesel fuel into the road.

The crash happened at around 2:30 p.m. Monday. Two people were involved, one driving each truck.

Witnesses said they heard several huge bangs at the time of the accident. They found a woman in the Chevrolet pickup and a man driving the heating truck.

"I just ran and flew down the mountain and came and saw a woman hanging out of a crushed car and there was oil spewing," said Heidi Curry visiting her parents from Belize, "So my mother and I called 911, and it wasn't very long before people were there to help. And there were a lot of people there, and they had to cut the car open to get her out."

Injuries to the drivers did not appear to be life-threatening, according to fire officials. Both were air-lifted to a local hospital.

Fireman said the H.O. Hinds Oil truck's capacity was 2,800 gallons. They were unable to determine how much had leaked at the scene, but estimated no more than 300-400 gallons.

"We've dumped a dump truck full of sand on to the side of the road to curtail any more of the diesel fuel flowing towards the creek," said Assistant Fire Chief Brock Small, Rush Fire Department.

Rush, United Montrose, Meshoppen, and Forest Lake Fire Departments responded to the scene.

Pennsylvania State Police were on scene investigating.

Windows 8: The Most Confused OS Launch Ever | Dr Dobb's

After making a courageous and daring bet to rework its entire product line and push itself into a completely new direction, Microsoft's disorganized product launch threatens to overwhelm any chance of success.

On Friday, Microsoft will release Windows 8, the completely revamped version of its flagship operating system. It is difficult to overestimate the importance of this product to the company. It has been in development for several years as the vehicle that will carry the Redmond giant into the post-PC era. It's a bold bet creating an entirely new look and feel for portable devices and aiming to bring consumers (especially young consumers) into Microsoft's traditional customer base of business users.

I've been using the OS on a tablet and I like the colorful tiles and easy swiping from task to task. It's simple to navigate the UI and get quickly to the apps you want. However, when I turn my slate into a real working device, rather than a browser or entertainment platter, I have to forgo the flashy new look and revert back to the Windows 7 look and feel that's buried under the covers. In fact, I do much of my work there. The problem for many consumers, if recent articles in the mainstream press are accurate, is that almost no one seems to know that the Windows 7 look and feel can be enabled for desktops and tablets. A recent article in The New York Times about how confused Windows 8 users were with the new interface mentioned the option only in passing and even then without any conviction of its signal importance. Ignorance of the presence of the traditional Windows UI is the first of many, many failures of Microsoft's planning, marketing, and PR departments.

Another failure is that the new UI's name is undecided. It was "Metro," as we all know. But to avoid a contretemps with a company partner in Europe, Microsoft had to forgo the name and scramble a new one just months before release. Right now, it's officially the "Windows 8 look and feel," which thoroughly guts the point I've just made about explaining the two UI options. Internally to Microsoft, "Metro" is referred to as "Modern" ? a term that certainly won't sparkle anyone's eyes.

Even though the official release of Windows 8 occurs later this week, the company released its Surface tablet last week with something other than Windows 8 on it. It was running Windows RT, which is the stripped-down ARM version of Windows 8. Consumers are rightly flummoxed by this bifurcation of brands. It gets worse: The tablets are technically running a Windows RT tablet with the Windows 8 look and feel ? but not running Windows 8, nor will they ever be able to. If you want the Windows 8 UI to actually run on Windows 8, instead of Windows RT, you have to wait for the next round of Surface tablets several months hence. A consumer is going to understand this?

If my observation that Windows RT is the ARM version of the OS sounds odd, it might be because you're thinking of WinRT, which is an entirely different thing. That is the core API to which developers need to program to get the unique benefits of Windows 8. It runs on both x86 and ARM. WinRT and Windows RT ? not the tight branding quality we're used to, are they?

I'll leave off discussion of the Nokia Lumia phones that run the Windows 8 UI today on Windows Phone 7.5. However, those phones can't be upgraded to Windows Phone 8. Phone buyers will surely not view their existing "Windows 8 UI" phones with much love after being told that.

The programming aspects of Windows 8 are hardly cause for cheer. The famous slide released late last year that showed the architecture of Windows 8 and associated development technologies was revised multiple times. It's been revised again since then. I expect it will be clarified and revised again at the upcoming Build conference. The Visual Studio 2012 product, as I discussed in a recent review, shows the conflicts between the "Metro" metaphor and the traditional Windows 7 look and feel ? ultimately settling on a near-monochrome scheme with tab names using all-caps. If this UI does indeed point the way for the new desktop apps, as Microsoft itself has suggested, the company's business apps are in very serious trouble.

I'll stop here, as my point is clear. I've attended dozens of OS launches ? from Microsoft, IBM, Linux vendors, Novell, Sun, and a half dozen UNIX vendors. They all had one common element: Everyone sang from the same hymnal and that hymnal used clear terminology to express the important new features. Microsoft used to lead the way in this. Everybody at the company from the senior execs down knew the lyrics to the current release and could recite them without deviating one iota from the company line. Today, it's a chaotic scene that is, in all respects, a branding disaster ? one brand with several names, incompatible OS versions, competing product names, confused design principles, and hidden features. I have never seen a major company so unprepared for a major product launch as Microsoft is today.

As I said earlier, this product release is an inflection point that is crucial to the company's long-term relevance. And the company knows that. And so they did the one thing we never see big companies do when their business is shrinking: They made a bold move, a brilliant stroke, and bet the whole company on it. Nobody has the courage to do that anymore! But, they did! And now, due to horrid execution, they appear to be blowing the whole thing. If Windows 8 fails, there is no doubt that, as the desktop franchise shrinks, Microsoft will be pushed into the smaller, server-side business market. There, it will be permanently consigned to the ranks of legacy software vendors. Ugh!

New link between high-fat 'Western' diet and atherosclerosis identified

ScienceDaily (Oct. 8, 2012) ? Columbia University Medical Center (CUMC) researchers have found that a diet high in saturated fat raises levels of endothelial lipase (EL), an enzyme associated with the development of atherosclerosis, and, conversely, that a diet high in omega-3 polyunsaturated fat lowers levels of this enzyme. The findings establish a "new" link between diet and atherosclerosis and suggest a novel way to prevent cardiovascular heart disease. In addition, the research may help to explain why the type 2 diabetes drug rosiglitazone (Avandia) has been linked to heart problems.

The study, conducted in mice, was published in the October 4 online edition of Atherosclerosis, Thrombosis, and Vascular Biology.

Like other lipases, EL plays a role in the metabolism of blood lipoproteins, which are complexes of lipids (fats) and proteins. EL, which is secreted by macrophages (a type of white blood cell) and other cells in arteries, was discovered in 1999. Studies have shown that elevated EL is associated with atherosclerosis and inflammation. Until now, however, little was known about how dietary fats might affect this enzyme, said study leader Richard Deckelbaum, MD, the Robert R. Williams Professor of Nutrition professor of pediatrics and of epidemiology and director of the Institute of Human Nutrition at CUMC.

In the current study, a strain of mice susceptible to atherosclerosis was fed a normal diet enriched with either palmitic acid (a common saturated fat) or eicosapentaenoic acid (an omega-3 fatty acid, or polyunsaturated fat, found in fish oil, among other foods). After 12 weeks, the mice's aortas were examined for changes in the expression of EL and inflammatory factors. Aortas of mice fed the saturated fat diet showed a significant increase in EL and detrimental changes in inflammatory factors, while those of mice fed the polyunsaturated fat diet showed a significant decrease in EL and beneficial changes in inflammatory factors. Studies in cultured macrophages showed similar results.

"Our study identifies a new way in which the high-saturated-fat Western diet could lead to the development of atherosclerosis, though, of course, these results need to be confirmed in human studies," said Dr. Deckelbaum. "The findings might also explain some of the cardiovascular benefits that have been attributed to omega-3 fatty acids."

The researchers also found, in cell culture studies, that macrophages fed saturated fat showed increased expression of PPAR-gamma, a cell signaling molecule that plays a role in regulating lipid metabolism and inflammatory responses. This increase was blocked when the cells were fed an omega-3 fatty acid.

"These findings are intriguing, because we know that the diabetes drug rosiglitazone (sold under the brand name Avandia) is a strong PPAR-gamma activator and that it has been associated with an increased risk of heart disease," said Dr. Deckelbaum. "So we hypothesized that if rosiglitazone activates ppar-gamma, it might also activate EL, which would explain its effects on the heart."

In fact, when the macrophages were given rosiglitazone, the expression of EL increased markedly. The addition of omega-3 fatty acids to the cells blocked this increase. "This would suggest that besides raising LDL cholesterol levels, rosiglitazone can raise the risk of cardiovascular disease by increasing EL," said Dr. Deckelbaum. "In addition to its potential role in increasing arterial inflammatory responses, EL increases the anchoring of LDL to cell surfaces, which could be associated with increased LDL accumulation in coronary arteries."

Use of Avandia was severely restricted in 2010, when the drug was linked to the development of heart disease.

The paper is titled, "Fatty acids regulate endothelial lipase and inflammatory markers in macrophages and in mouse aorta: a role for PPAR?." The other contributors are Un Ju Jung, Claudia Torrejon, Chuchun L. Chang, Hiroko Hamai, and Tilla S. Worgall, all at CUMC.

The study was supported by the National Institutes of Health grants HL 40404, T32 DK007647 and 5K08AG025833.

HIV drug shows efficacy in treating mouse models of HER2+ breast cancer

Monday, October 8, 2012

The HIV protease inhibitor, Nelfinavir, can be used to treat HER2-positive breast cancer in the same capacity and dosage regimen that it is used to treat HIV, according to a study published October 5 in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute.

Breast cancer is one of the most common causes of cancer deaths in the U.S. with approximately 39,520 women succumbing to the disease in 2011. HER2-postive breast cancer is known to be more aggressive and less responsive to treatments compared to other types of breast cancer. Nelfinavir has been shown to inhibit the growth of some types of cancers and has been used in clinical trials as either a chemotherapeutic agent or a radiosensitizer for cancer therapy. However, its effect on HER2-positive breast cancer is unknown.

In order to determine the effects of Nelfinavir on HER2-positive breast cancer, Joong Sup Shim, Ph.D., of the Department of Pharmacology and Molecular Sciences at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and colleagues screened the Johns Hopkins Drug Library and identified a number of inhibitors of breast cancer cells, a subset of which was then used to pharmacologically profile seven genotypically individual breast cancer cell lines. After identifying Nelfinavir as a selective inhibitor of HER2-positive cells, the researchers determined the antitumor activity of the inhibitor in mouse models of human breast cancer.

The researchers found that Nelfinavir inhibited the growth of HER2-positive tumors in mice. They also found that the concentrations of Nelfinavir needed to inhibit HER2-positive cancer cells in vitro are consistent with dosage regimens used for HIV patients. "With a relatively low toxicity profile and much available information on its drug-drug interactions and on pharmacokinetics, Nelfinavir is ready for clinical testing in HER2 breast cancer patients," the authors write, adding that this discovery has, "important implications in the development of Nelfinavir and its analogs as new anticancer agents."

Ohio

The state?s largest casino is open for business, almost three years after voters approved four full-scale gambling facilities statewide. Ohio Public Radio?s Karen Kasler reports.

(sound)?
Columbus? is the second Hollywood Casino in Ohio ? the first opened in Toledo in May. It?s been a busy half a year for Joann Davidson, the chair of the Ohio Casino Control Commission.?
?I?m not sure that you could find any other state that?s opened three casinos in a five month period of time, so it?s been a long haul for us.?

There are worries that Ohio may have missed the boat on gambling, and that with casinos and racinos all around the state, the market is saturated. Tim Wilmott is the president and COO of Penn National, the operator of the casinos in Columbus and Toledo and the soon-to-be racinos in Dayton and Youngstown in 2014.?
?We think these markets are large enough and vibrant enough to support four land-based casinos and seven racinos. If you look at the state of Pennsylvania, which is about the same population as the state of Ohio, which is about the same population as the state of Ohio, they have 12 casinos operating today plus two more coming, and they?re all doing very, very well.?

A recent study showed Ohio has as many as a quarter of a million problem gamblers. Davidson says the state will use that as a baseline to track that issue.

Kickstart Your Family Tree: Using the Census | Historic Indianapolis ...

Last week, we started our family history research by recording what we already know. The next step is to start verifying and adding to that information. One of the easiest ways to accomplish this is by looking at census records.

1900 Census Image

Census records are one of the most well-known sources of genealogical information. They are an invaluable resource for anyone who wants to know more about their family?s history.

?About the Census

The first U.S. Federal Census was taken in 1790. Since then, a census has been taken every ten years. The only census that is not available is the 1890 census which was largely destroyed by a fire in 1921. After the 1930 census, the government put a 72-year restriction on census data to protect the privacy of living individuals. This means we must wait 72 years after the census was taken to be given access to the information it contains. The most recent census available to the public is the 1940 census, which was just released this year.

In addition to federal census records, many states took censuses of their own. In Indiana, state censuses were taken in 1820. 1825, 1830, 1835, 1840, 1845, 1850, 1853, 1866, 1871, 1877, 1873, 1889, 1895, 1901, 1913, and 1919.?Unfortunately, only fragments of these documents remain.

?Accessing Census Records

Federal census records for all available years are accessible online through a variety of subscription sites. Luckily most libraries provide access to several of these sites to their patrons free-of-charge.

Ancestry Library Edition, a limited library version of Ancestry.com, can be accessed onsite at IMCPL, the Indiana State Library, as well as many other area libraries. It provides fully-searchable census records and includes scanned images of the original census pages.

HeritageQuestOnline.com is another valuable source of census data. Like Ancestry Library Edition, it provides fully-searchable census records and scanned images. Heritage Quest can be accessed from the Indiana State Library, as well as many other area libraries.

Surviving census records for the state of Indiana are a bit scattered. Some of what has survived can be accessed at the Indiana State Library, at the Indiana State Archives, or by contacting the auditor?s office in the county you?re researching.

?What You?ll Find

The information recorded in the census varied from year to year. For instance, before 1850, only the head of household is listed by name. The other members of the household are noted only by age range and gender.

For census years 1850 and after, you can expect to learn the name, age, and place of birth of each member of the household, as well as the place of birth of their parents, their year of immigration, their occupation, and their marital status.

Certain years provided other valuable information, such as the number of children a mother has given birth to or the number of years a couple has been married.

1920 Census for Otto and Annie Becker

?A Few Tips

  • ?As with all research, it?s important to record as much information as possible about the sources you use. For the census you should take note of the year, the location (city, county, & state), the page number, the line number of your family, and the website or other source you used to access it.
  • ?Keep in mind that the information provided on the census sheets is not always 100% accurate. There are often errors in dates and in spelling made by both the census taker and the family member he or she spoke with. Always record information as it appears and never disregard information that is different than what you expect to find.
  • ?If you have trouble finding your relatives in a particular census year, try altering your search terms. Old handwriting can be difficult to read, and there are sometimes errors made in the indexing process. Try searching for just the last name and location or some other combination of information. You can also try searching with the first initial or any spelling variation you can think of.
  • Ancestry.com provides blank versions of all the censuses for your reference. You can use these to keep track of what you?ve discovered, or just as an easier way to read the column headings (they can be difficult to read on the scanned images).

Go explore the census and see what new information you can learn about your ancestors!

Millions of pints later, Oktoberfest closes

BERLIN (AP) ? Munich's famed celebration of beer, the Oktoberfest, is drawing to a close after some 6.4 million visitors downed an estimated 6.9 million liter mugs of Bavarian brew ? some 14.6 million pints.

Organizers said they were satisfied with this year's event, which opened Sept. 22 and ends Sunday ? although visitor numbers were lower than last year.

Festival director Dieter Reiter says that's because the festival grounds were reduced to accommodate an agricultural fair which takes place every four years, news agency dapd reported. In 2011, the Oktoberfest drew some 6.9 million visitors, who downed well over 7 million liters.

The Oktoberfest draws visitors from across the world ? many of whom try out traditional Bavarian dress. Reiter says: "Purely from a visual point of view, there are only Bavarians."

Fantastic Self Improvement Tips That Can Work For You! | Rob ...

At times, it can be difficult to determine what you need for effective personal development. You need to see what will work for you. Nothing works the same for everyone in terms of self improvement. With that being discussed you should look for new ways to help yourself, like these suggestions, read on to see which ones you can use.

Decide what you want and take actions toward this goal. If you spend all your time dreaming about what you want to happen in your life, yet do little to create that life, that life will never happen. It is time to take action toward realizing your dreams.

Discipline is one of the cornerstones of a successful self improvement plan. Teach yourself how to overrule your body?s desire for things that can harm you. Avoid desires like greed, lust, drunkenness, and over-eating. You will not develop any life long addictions that will compromise your health in a physical or mental fashion.

When you are trying to reach your goal, don?t push your physical limitations. Although striving may be what fuels your accomplishments, you need to know when you are exceeding your own boundaries. Achieving a goal is not worth throwing away your health. Short-changing your body in order to meet self improvement goals is a terribly counter-productive form of self-improvement.

The health of your body has a direct effect on the health of your mind. Partake in regular exercise and stick to a nutritious diet. If you want a healthy mind, make sure it resides in a healthy body.

Focus on your internal qualities, not your external image. In the end, your looks do not matter that much. It is your personality and character traits that are going to define who you are in life. Instead of making cosmetic changes, put more effort into improving your inner self.

Are you causing yourself unnecessary stress? Stay calm and carefully analyze every situation. If you make a mistake, own up to it, fix it, and move on. Prioritize your achievements over your failures.

Identify what is keeping you from being successful. This is hard to do for a lot of people. To be successful at personal development, start by pinpointing any areas of weakness and target these areas for improvement. If you succeed in removing some obstacles, you might find that the path to the future is much clearer.

Make a list of your priorities, and plan your life around these elements. Focus on the more positive things in life because they matter. Do not focus on the negative things because they don?t matter, and you will have a lot better inner peace.

Thinking about growing and changing will only take you so far; in order to achieve your goals, you need to actively implement the changes. If you want to become a better person, you have to take concrete steps to make it happen.

Personal Development

Read some good books about personal development. A good personal development book can give you great advice and ideas that can change your life. Try choosing a book that has several positive reviews because many books in the genre are not very well written.

Know that everyone is different, so use this article in a way that?s comfortable for you. Trying out and practicing what you?ve learned is the only reliable method for improving your personal development results. Don?t hog the knowledge, though. If you have friends or relatives that could use these tips, be sure to point them to this article

Nokia Lumia 920 for AT&T hands-on: a Windows Phone 8 flagship with PureView imaging and LTE (update: now with video)

Nokia Lumia 920 for AT&T handson a Windows Phone 8 flagship with PureView imaging and LTE

Much like the 900 before it, Nokia's Lumia 920 will be making its US debut on AT&T as an exclusive. Despite not having Microsoft's "signature" blessing, this Windows Phone 8 flagship is poised to ship sometime this November with all the stuffings of its international counterpart. Inside that vibrant polycarbonate hull, of which there are now five colors (including cyan), is a 4.5-inch PureMotion HD+ 1,280 x 768 display, 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor buffered by 1GB RAM, an 8-megapixel PureView rear camera and 2,000mAh battery augmented by the inclusion of wireless charging. Naturally, this locked and branded variant will run on the carrier's 4G LTE network and offer the same "Super Sensitive Touch" panel that we tested extensively at the company's Espoo HQ.

This being Microsoft's WP8 game, however, we still weren't able to go past the live-tiled start screen and into the meat and potatoes of the fuller app drawer, nor could we truly give the OS a spin -- that'll all have to wait until end of October. From the tightly controlled software bits we did demo, though, the 920's shaping up to be a smooth and solid contender for the beast phone race. Icons and text scroll by without any marked blur thanks to the screen's 60Hz refresh rate. And colors on that saturated display pop, while viewing angles remain consistently impressive. What also hasn't changed is the handset's girth and weight -- it's still chunky and relatively heavy in hand, but we're willing to overlook it for the PureView rear module alone.

Within the frenzied constraints of events like these, it's hard to really dive deep into camera performance. But we don't really have much need for that given our exhaustive coverage of the 920's optical image stabilization, low light capabilities and Cinemagraph GIF-making magic. Still, expect us to give it a fuller poke when final review units land in our laps (hopefully) later this month.

Unfortunately, the wait for Nokia's next of high-end Lumia kin isn't over yet. AT&T's playing coy and won't fess up to a concrete date or even on-contract price. That should all change as soon as Microsoft makes things officially official. Until then, sate yourself with the images below and don't miss the video after the break.
